It certainly suggests a choice between opposing principles, between e.g. the past and the future, between conservatism and progress, between sense and reckless change. And it looks certain now that it is going to be one of John McCain, Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama who will win that election.
In the sky, the planet Uranus will be amidst the life-giving waters of Aquarius as they are poured from the giant urn. So this is quite an encouraging sign: we seem to be looking at positive progress rather than backward-looking reaction (another side of Uranus).
So which candidate is Uranus - the maverick, the outsider, the force for change? It could be any of them: Obama for being black (ish), Hillary for being a woman (ish), or John McCain for being John McCain. This is what happens when you play with oppositions – they can swap places, and when you do it with politicians, it very much depends on your political point of view which planet you are going to assign to which candidate. Is it John McCain who is Saturn because he is the Republican? Or the uncharismatic Hillary Clinton with her much-vaunted ‘experience’? Or the thoughtful and considered Barack Obama who does not believe in ‘dumb wars’?
So I think it will be probably be impossible to use the Saturn-Uranus opposition to successfully predict the outcome of the election. What we can feel confident about is that it will be more unpredictable than most elections, and there may well be events surrounding the election and its outcome which are unusual and unprecedented.
For my money, I’d say it’s Obama who will end up as President (note, I didn’t say wins the election – that’s far too straightforward!) Astrologically, the biggest transit coming up for the US Sibly Chart will be Neptune conjoining the Moon in 2009 - the people (Moon) seeking a redeemer (Neptune). The candidate who most clearly fits this bill, for better or for worse, is Barack Obama. “Good afternoon, believers,” as he began one of his campaign speeches. (Natally he has Sun in Leo square to Neptune). In 2000, the big transit coming up was Pluto conjoining the Sibly ASC, which was clearly more George Bush than Al Gore.
The other reason I think it’s going to be Obama is that a slightly unworldly Native American friend who can be very intuitive saw a picture of Obama a couple of years ago, did not know who he was, but had the words “That man is going to be President one day” go through his mind. Another intuitive friend, without knowing who Obama was, had a vision of him at the White House a year or two ago, and subsequently recognised his face after he became a Democratic candidate. She also has a sense that it might be Hillary who initially becomes President, but something then goes wrong and Obama as Vice-President steps in to the job. But I do live in Glastonbury, so who knows!

Theres nothing really that radical about any of them. Now if Ron Paul won, that would be radical! Hes gained a huge momentum via the web, and amongst the young, but the traditional media give him hardly any coverage.
Very interesting about your friends' visions.
Several years ago, I too had a vision of Hillary v McCain for this election, that it appeared to be Hillary but also something very surprising would take place at the time. The outcome was unexpected as if the second became the first.
I've not liked to speculate about it, but there does seem to be something there...any astro signatures to back us up?
PS I think Bellatrix plays big in this. Thanks for that post a while back.
(the symbol picture of Bellatrix has been in a vision too i could not place it until your post, many, many thanks)
This post has stimulated a lot thought. I had seen the grand trine formed by transiting Jupiter to John McCain's natal Sun trine Uranus that is projecting him to the front of the Republican pack. What I am noticing now is that on election day the exact opposition between transiting Uranus and transiting Saturn will interact with the T square in McCain's natal chart formed by Jupiter in Sagittarius square Neptune conjunct Venus in Virgo opposed to Saturn in Pisces square Jupiter in Sagittarius. This T square is resolved by a point in Gemini, and this point is conjunct the US Mars, thus forming a Grand Square relationship. Also on election day transiting Moon will be conjunct McCain's natal Moon, which is in opposition aspect to natal Pluto, and conjunct the US natal Pluto, which is in opposition aspect to the US Mercury.
Do you have an opinion about the this?
When an old soul such as Obama, speaks unity, inclusiveness and oneness, the Heart hears and Remembers!
When someone, such as Obama, offers Hope and points the way to a better, brighter future, spoken from the innermost point of Truth or Soul,... the Heart Hears and Believes!
When Obama calls each of us to action and participation to Duty, we are reminded of our Responsibility to our common destiny.
As Obama states so poignantly, "We are the Ones, We Have Been Waiting For!
I agree that Ron Paul seems to be the Uranian candidate. Too bad the media keeps reporting that there are "two GOP candidates" remaining, when there are actually three.
McCain, Obama, Clinton all seem very similar to me, unfortunately. "Barak McClinton."
Venus, what do you make of it? There's certainly a load of very significant stuff there. But Uranus makes it difficult to second-guess.
Tseka - visions are Neptunian, and Obama has a strong Neptune, so maybe he's behind it all somewhere! But then the strong Uranus on the election day makes it hard to predict apart from saying something unusual may well occur.
wdsoulplane, I'm tempted to believe what you say about Obama, you may be right. But he also seems to evoke a lot of 'believers', he evokes a religious response which he seems to encourage. I'm pretty cautious about going there, you have to look at history to see where it can lead.
The Grand Square in John McCain's chart on election day could be a crisis that enables decisiveness. It could be that he is forced by circumstances to concede and relinquish his long held desire for the presidency. Transiting Moon conjunct McCain's natal moon and the US natal Pluto in opposition to McCain's Pluto and the US Mercury could be the intense communication of his relinquishing of striving for power to the populace. All conjecture at this point.
Barak and Hillary have very similar charts. Both have stelliums in fixed signs, both have a strong Plutonian influence in their chart.
In terms of who dominates the other, Hillary's chart is stronger, with her Pluto/Mars combination sitting directly on Barak's Sun, her Sun sits on his Neptune, dispelling the charismatic aura of his message, and her Uranus sits on his Venus sending "shocks to the system". She keeps him off balance and off center. She is able to communicate that she is an agent of change herself, should she choose to project that message.
On the last night of the Democratic convention, transiting Jupiter trines her 10th house moon and Mars and Mercury sits on that moon as well, adding drive and the ability to communicate well to her career ambitions.
I haven't looked ahead to see if something "happens" to Hillary and Barak steps up, but it seems to me Hillary will be the Democratic nominee. This isn't what some people want to hear, but Barak has many career years ahead of him and more chances to win the nomination in the years to come.
WOW that Hillary Medusa makes a perfect sense with Hillary's North Node conjunct Algol. Two other news bits validate the Hillary Medusa. Stephanie Power, Obama's ex-campaign advisor, calls Hillary a "monster" this week, right after award-winning NYTimes cartoonist Peter Brookes portrays Hillary's head on Obama's pitchfork in his "American Gothic" cartoon! Hillary's Medusa is treacherous! I don't think she'll make it to the nomination for that reason. Obama is the leader with the natural instinct, wisdom, and inspirational talent to pull the country back together.
