The EU Avoids its Problems

Britain is the bad boy of Europe again for vetoing proposals for closer integration. But you can’t expect a country – or a person – with Uranus on the Ascendant, square Sun and square MC to co-operate easily. It’s easy to see people with a strong Uranus or Aquarius element as deliberately awkward, wilfully contrary – and sometimes they are – but usually what is going on is that they are making their own minds up, often unaware that there is a consensus thinking to which they are supposed to conform.

In this case, the Eurozone and the UK are each attempting to act in their own interests, which is fair enough. But it doesn’t suit either side. For all the headlines about the agreement that has, despite the UK, been reached, there remains the problem of Italy – and Spain, Portugal and Greece. How can the EU leaders possibly be envisioning a future of tighter fiscal control when Italy is about to go bankrupt? And perhaps several others as well? All bets about the future of Europe are off until those countries debt problems are sorted.

In 2001, Argentina went bust. The value of the currency collapsed, inflation rocketed, the banks shut down, people lost their savings and there were years of widespread poverty which continue even now.

The EU is not offering to bail out its struggling economies. A number of its members are quite probably about to spend years in extremely difficult circumstances, making the ‘austerity’ measures in the UK and elsewhere look like a picnic. There’s no way the EU can implement any sort of further integration and tighter controls in these conditions.

The EU collectively and all its wealthiest members are undergoing major hard transits from Uranus and Pluto. (Italy isn’t – it has Neptune opposing its MC, suggesting a political meltdown.) With these transits, you are forced to deal with underlying problems before progress can occur. The underlying problem is not tighter fiscal control. It has gone beyond that. The underlying problem for the Eurozone is what seems to be inevitable defaults and fragmentation and planning for that.

In my piece The Sun Sets on Europe I was considering Saturday’s Total Lunar Eclipse and exact station of Uranus. I expected some sort of announcement concerning the future of Europe, probably the default of Italy, since the eclipse was closely conjunct the Italian Sun. In the end there was a major announcement, but about closer integration and the UK opting out. I still think the eclipse has to mean something important for Italy because of the aspect it makes. We shall have to wait and see. Eclipses are operative for a week or two either side.

thanks DR, was looking forward to your interpretation of this historic treaty negotiation. It seems interesting that the Franco-German cabal seemed predetermined to pick a fight with the UK leaving Cameron no option to withdraw or return home humiliated. And not actually do very much that will reassure the the bond traders that the Euro is a viable currency to invest in.
The EU created a currency that wasnt suitable for the differences of the separate EU nations, and rather than try & remedy the problem, seem fixed on the idea that they can federalize the EU states with technocratic imposed leaders and direct intervention on fiscal policy that in effect national govts will become little more than local councils under the rule of the EU bureaucrats. And in the process ostracise the UK for demanding the right to govern itself as a nation state & manage the currency it had chosen to keep in defiance of the EU to enable the UK to set its own agenda & not be crippled under the Euro's contagion. No wonder there's so many sour grapes from the mainland! Will be interesting to see how the bond markets react to this idealist rather than pragmatic treaty proposal without ECB guarantees to stabilize the PIIGS debt.

Well perhaps you considered Italian Sun to be in Gemini or Sagittarius while Italy, even if Italian **Republic** started with Sun in Gemini, it is true that Italy was definitevely united in 17 March 1861 and in fact this year was the 150th of Italian so-called Unity, absolutely very different from the startard of England and United Kingdom.

Anyway though Unity in Italian was done in Italian way, so chaotic and without a real unity, the Sun you must take account of is the Sun of 17 March...

Of course you have partly, but not completely, reason if take into the picture the only Republican Sun, for Italian Republic was born on 16 June 1946.

But your picture will always be incompleted as that of many if you erase the March Italian Sun, as many do, as I repeat, with the result of having of Italy, for godd and for worse, an incomplete picture with incomplete views...

And I would not forget the conj that will come of English Sun with Pluto in Capricorn...

There is a piece what has written in 1997, warning for the euro. But I can't find it at the moment.

My brother and I looked at the maps dividing the Artic into national zones for resource exploitation (gas, oil, etc.). China and the US (except for Alaska) aren't players except that China now has agreements with Norway and Iceland, and the US has agreements with Canada. As my grandson put it, while the rest of us are worried about global warming, the corporations are probably up there with blow-dryers.

My point is that the focus is moving north. I am trying to imagine that world, thinking about the mythology associated. The mythology of the north is different than that arising at the equator, from the Mediterranean.

Regarding the Total Lunar Eclipse of December 10th, Douglas Baker, in his book "Esoteric Astrology, Part II," stated that 18 Gemini is the rising degree for the UK chart, which is within two degrees of the US Gemini rising chart. This is interesting in view of the historical ties between the US and the UK. Anyway, David Cameron's breakaway from the Group of 27 and his rejection of essentially German control seems to be the right decision for the UK. But, the economy under his leadership may be a disaster. It's interesting that the 18 Gemini Eclipse is conjunct Baker's Gemini rising chart. If Baker is correct, this could be a defining moment for the UK.

Yes, and you've got Uranus stationing opposite the UK Uranus, so you get the 'split' from Europe which is a bit obvious but I missed it.

However, Uranus still has a lot of work to do on the continental and EU charts, so the UK splitting may presage the split-up of the whole EU in its present form once the defaulting begins.

DM,

I hadn't looked at the UK chart, so I'm glad you brought up the Uranus station to the UK Uranus. Thanks.

It does not matter if the UK withdraws from the EU or not. Both are in systems that favour financial speculation and so will collapse probably when the Uranus/Pluto square hits their natal Suns around 2014.

I foresee much civil unrest, probably even to the point of civil wars in some countries, like US, UK, Russia, Greece, Italy...

Re Italy: Not only has it transiting Neptune opposing the MC, but the last Lunar Eclipse hit its eighth house Sun, a double whammy on the government. Meanwhile transiting Mars is about to square the Sun from the 10th house just around x-mas, when the Dark Moon opposes the country's eighth-house Mercury, ruler of the eighth house. >> bankruptcy, chaos, riots...

Thanks! I've got Uranus at the end of house 1, I'm always in trouble because of the above.
