The Humungous Full Moon of Sept 2012

The Full Moon in Aries tonight is a scorcher. Most astrologers seem to be saying something about it, so I thought I may as well.

At a Full Moon, the Sun and Moon are opposite. In this case in Libra and Aries respectively. What makes it so powerful is that Uranus will be closely conjunct the Moon and opposite the Sun, and Pluto will be closely squaring the Sun and the Moon. So Sun-Moon/ Uranus-Pluto t-square.

Just to up the ante further, there is another t-square involving Mars/Node in late Scorpio, Venus in late Leo and Neptune at 1 Pisces.

So all 3 outer planets are involved, suggesting that in a sense whatever happens is out of our hands. Just let yourself be pushed from behind and trust that.

It particularly affects you if you have planets/Angles in earlyish cardinal or late fixed/very early mutable. If you have both, you’ve really got it coming!

Moreover, if you have anything in late Taurus and/or early Cancer, then you will complete one of these 2 t-squares, you are a lightning rod for it, it will be Grand Cross energy surging through you. But there will be a sense of completeness, of wholeness to it. If you have both... &%$!!

There is a strong relationship element to this Full Moon due to the Sun being in Libra and the Mars/Node-Venus square. I mean any significant relationship. It could be your boss.

On the world stage, it suggests a tension between diplomacy (Libra) and aggression/desire to win (Moon in Aries). But collectives do not have the option of exercising self-awareness and allowing the outer planets to operate consciously through them. So you get pear shapes. It’s hard enough for an individual to do that. Especially with this current planetary mix, where personal desire is emphasised so strongly: Moon in Aries, and Mars in Scorpio square to Venus.

The tension between China and Japan, the anti-US protests across the Muslim world, have been triggered in the run-up to this Full Moon.

So keep a cool Libran head, keep your eye on what is objective. Uranus-Pluto means that it is time for matters to come to a head, for truth to be told, for the real to push through. But it’ll kind of happen in its own way, maybe explosively, but that’s Uranus. It may appear destructive, but it’s clearing the way for some new way of being around each other – or maybe not all! New relationships can begin due to the cardinal nature of the t-square.

Inner planet events are triggers rather than being deeply transformative: that is the work of the outer planets. So this Full Moon will be a big trigger for some of us, but bringing changes that have been building for some time. And take us into the future. This trigger is definitely evolutionary, even if it is messy.

The personal desire element, the wish for a particular outcome, is particularly strong here. So for some people it may be the right course to try to put that aside and let the outer planets do their work. But it may also be that personal desire and the bigger outcome, the bigger picture, are so intertwined, that it is best to go for the outcome you want, trust in that. Or a bit of both! It’s an art, knowing what to trust in yourself and what to put a question mark over. Especially with the strong romanticism of the Venus-Mars-Neptune t-square.

Moon in Aries square Pluto: the disempowerment of putting aside what you want because that is ‘selfish’. And Libra, of course, wants us to put others first. But the desire won’t be held back any more, not with Mars in Scorpio.

Rather than being simply selfish, desire often has a deeper wisdom in it, it gives us the ability to live our own lives, to unfold. Rational Libra will come along and lecture us about putting others first, and want justification in words and reason, which we may not be able to give.

And Uranus: be prepared to break ‘the rules’. Others may think you are a ‘bad’ person, but if you let that stop you, you’ll never fully have your own life. If you are an Aquarian, this is probably home territory. Also, it's probably not what you think!

I really, really appreciate this post. It's exactly what's occurring to me right now.

This is really it for me.

I had a family member who married Sat. evening with this full moon in force, straddling the 1st-7th chart axis, with moon exactly cnj. Uranus....I love hearing that the t-square is "strongly romantic" and this is a time for growth, but the wedding chart still gave me hives. One of the worst days this year to get hitched IMO.
