Ahhhh.
I like the greek "stories" - read them a lot in German: Gustav Schwab - Sagen des klassischen Altertums. Very good god connections.Nicoalsnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30912075.post-51232331331004200232011-08-02T20:53:53.712+01:002011-08-02T20:53:53.712+01:00Very interesting - although it's the other way...Very interesting - although it's the other way around; medicine today is the science of death. Doctors are frontmen and pushers for the pharmaceutical corporations who dispense poisons that maim and kill. Vaccines are the prime example of this. I think we could do a lot worse than look to astrological healing - Hippocrates would agree, for a start.sundaemonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30912075.post-53610008250435687402011-08-02T20:53:16.633+01:002011-08-02T20:53:16.633+01:00"Dark suspicion that wonder drugs do not cure..."Dark suspicion that wonder drugs do not cure diseases, but suppress them" -- I've seldom seen a better description of what makes disease-causing micro-organisms mutate into drug-resistant variants as quickly as they do nowadays. Why go to the bother of enduring something as inconvenient as the flu if we can take a pill to get rid of it? Instead of using the common sense methods of surviving a few days in bed -- chicken soup, electrolyte drinks like juice and Gatorade, jell-o and when you feel better, some burnt toast -- we have to get right back to whatever we were doing and make other people sick in the process. I've talked to my sister (biologist) several times about how cancer springs up out of nowhere, and how I think it's a failure of the immune system aggravated by all the junk we swallow, and she agrees with me completely. We spend uncounted millions on trying to stay young forever, we're terrified of death because no one can prove that there is an afterlife, and we pop antibiotics when we don't need them. No wonder diseases are more aggressive than they ever used to be.
I think we humans are more terrified of death than we used to be, far more so. Is this because we've basically lost the real belief in a "hereafter"? My guess is yes.saranoreply@blogger.com
