It seems to be a matter of habitual response, which interferes with alternatives and progress. Because it's so easy it can stall growth which the NN represents. The entrapment builds as the response is so hard to be released from. So the complacency then becomes pain. The old, "Why did I do that again?"

It's what we've already mastered so there is no more gain there. The next step forward is at the NN. What we usually do is try and drag the South with us. Thus the Heel that pulls us down.
So with Taurus South, for example, the person longs for release from material worries, but has to take the checkbook into the netherworlds with him. The pursuit of material gain is very very disappointing. The hard thing to realize is that the material will happen automatically, once the person lets go of the grip. The NN in Scorpio is a magician/alchemist in a real way since the practical memory of Taurus underlies and gives it substance, as long as the sleeping dog lies.

There are theories that the SN represents the soul's past, but I've seen it almost like past lives within the current one. I always see the age old negative family patterns there, and a dominant parent can often be clearly seen at the South. The NN represents our potential, our future, growth, maturity, autonomy, and the the key to the most fulfillment in the chart. The addiction to the SN is the problem; immediate gratification. It seems to come first, almost blocking the North. With every person I've encountered, when unhappy and things aren't right, the SN is implicated.

I think the NN is a step into the unknown, even if aspected and tied in otherwise, so the natural tendency to get pulled down by the Achille's Heel is the usual scenario. I definitely have found this to be the underlying basic frustration of the whole life. When this is worked out, the other parts of the chart seem to follow suit. My view is that the NN is the best point in the chart, by far. And it actually makes things quite simple during all the rough patches. It's an ongoing solution.

Part of my theory of why the nodes operate this way is here.jmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07892926205632124355noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30912075.post-81373915617407061562007-05-29T14:24:00.000+01:002007-05-29T14:24:00.000+01:00If I may jump in on the South Node - while it's tr...If I may jump in on the South Node - while it's true that the attributes come easily to us these are also the very things that hold us back. The South Node, even if it's not poorly aspected, can breed a complacency that then later becomes the Achilles heel.Lynn Hayeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00465252614140213164noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30912075.post-67286018816986069662007-05-29T13:53:00.000+01:002007-05-29T13:53:00.000+01:00That's interesting, it certainly works with my Tau...That's interesting, it certainly works with my Taurus South Node, as you pointed out a few weeks ago. But it's not the usual interpretation of the SN, which I understand to be more about something that comes easily to us!

In which case, what is your take on the North Node?Barry Goddardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10050835957098177925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30912075.post-28169635893829472942007-05-28T21:48:00.000+01:002007-05-28T21:48:00.000+01:00Which South Node does the myth of Achilles describ...Which South Node does the myth of Achilles describe?

All of them. As one of those children who stubbornly insisted on following their own drummer, much to the dismay of the Family Expectations, I will attest to the length of time it takes to sort it out. Very revealing to me was noting the significant change in self-preception at forty when I found out my father truly did approve of me. gah!!! :-)Diane Lhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05611404164493055394noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30912075.post-41681830880683654862007-05-28T12:34:00.000+01:002007-05-28T12:34:00.000+01:00Yes, thanks jm, there's the other side with kids t...Yes, thanks jm, there's the other side with kids too. You could see that clearly with the extreme poverty of the people juxtaposed with the lamas in the palaces. It's important to realize this as we reorganize religiously after Pluto in Sagittarius. Saturn in Leo opposite Neptune is spiritual monarchy. The kingdom of Bhutan is odd and interesting in this regard. I've never seen anything quite like it. I'm glad you mentioned this.

There's litle to fear about your child. I do believe they are the guides and teachers, if not the real parents. He will bring what he needs out of you to map his own destiny. Maybe he'll even help you with yours and he won't even have to pay for YOUR therapist!
We have a remarkable talent for not turning out like our parents expect us too.

I love the myth of Achilles and you told it beautifully. It descibes the South Node.jmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07892926205632124355noreply@blogger.com
